Offset Printing
Our offset printing is one of the most widely used and trusted methods in the printing industry. It is ideal for producing high-quality, large-volume print materials like books, newspapers, magazines, brochures, and catalogs.
How It Works
Offset printing uses plates, usually made of metal, that transfer (or “offset”) an inked image onto a rubber blanket and then onto the printing surface, typically paper. The process works based on the principle that oil-based ink and water do not mix, ensuring sharp and clear images and text.
Here’s how it works in detail:
- Plate Creation
- Ink Application
- Offset Process
- Printing
- Plate Creation: A metal plate is created for each color (typically CMYK: cyan, magenta, yellow, and black). These plates are etched with the image or text to be printed.
- Ink Application: Ink is applied to the plate, but it only adheres to the areas that will be printed. Water is applied to the non-image areas, preventing ink from sticking there.
- Offset Process: The inked image on the plate is transferred to a rubber blanket. The rubber blanket then "offsets" the image onto the paper, hence the name.
- Printing: The paper passes through a series of rollers where each color is printed in sequence. This results in a high-quality, full-color print with sharp details.
Advantages
- High Quality: Offset printing produces crisp, clear images and text, with vibrant color reproduction.
- Cost-Effective for Large Volumes: While there are setup costs due to the plates, it becomes very economical for high-volume printing as the cost per page decreases significantly with larger print runs.
- Color Accuracy: With the ability to use the Pantone Matching System (PMS), offset printing allows for precise color matching, making it ideal for brand-specific colors.
- Flexibility in Paper & Finishes: It supports a wide range of paper types, finishes (such as gloss, matte), and sizes, making it versatile for various types of print jobs.
